AGREEMENT
Counselling Approach
I work using an integrated model of counselling. I am committed to providing a safe, therapeutic environment for you. I believe that has my client you have the desire and the capacity to grow towards fulfilling your true potential and that you are the expert on your live. I will therefore not give advice or offer solutions, but work with you to help you understand yourself more fully and to find your own inner resources. With greater self-awareness and trust in yourself, I hope that you will be able to make constructive changes, leading to a more satisfying and meaningful life.
Confidentiality
The content of the sessions are confidential to you and me. I will need to discuss my work with my supervisor. I will use your first name but not use any other identifying details about you. On very rare occasions if I discover there is a need to communicate with other professionals, this will only happen by first seeking your permission and knowledge of what is going to be discussed. If I believe you will cause serious physical harm to yourself or another person then I will not be able to retain confidentiality and will be forced to inform my supervisor and your doctor. Confidentiality would be broken in the event of a breach of national security I am committed to offering good practice.
Data Protection Act 2000
I will keep a written record of your sessions these will be kept secure and confidentual.
Sessions
Sessions will be for 50 minutes every week at a regular time (unless agreed otherwise).
Payments
Payment will be taken at the start of each session and paid in cash. Your fee will be £45 per session, however arrangements can be made for students and them on low incomes.
Cancellation
I will not see you if you are under the influence of alcohol and / or drugs. I require at least
24 hours notice if you wish to cancel a session. You will be charged for any
missed sessions. I will always aim to give you as much notice as possible of any holidays,
training workshops, conferences or illness that might prevent me from being available at
the time/day of the scheduled session. In such cases I will always aim to
offer an alternative arrangement.
Ethical Framework
As a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I am bound by its code of ethics and practice and subject to its complaints procedure.
